MY HISTORY WITH PLANNING EVENTS:
As the Director of Events for three popular New York City restaurants, I covered all aspects of coordinating special events within a specific venue. I have worked with numerous corporate clients to plan extraordinary dinners and receptions and have produced many exquisite affairs representing a variety of creative themes. My file of contacts represents hundreds of local event services including caterers, graphic designers, florists, balloon artists, and entertainment providers (DJ’s, musicians, comedians, professional speakers, etc.)
I’m a New Yorker that walks fast and has way too many black dresses. I grew up in Scarsdale, New York, where my eyes were first opened to the fabulous world of party planning as a sixth grader, when I attended the first of sixty-plus bar and bat mitzvahs. The extraordinary invitations were saved in a scrapbook I could not close, and memories of balloon arches and karaoke left a lasting impression. My event planning started with team motivational dinners after lacrosse practice and continued in college as I was elected “co-pledge trainer” for my sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta. The summer after sophomore year (before heading off to study in Florence, Italy), I served as the personal assistant to the awe-inspiring Barbara Smith on the set of B. Smith with Style, in Sag Harbor, NY. (And that was awesome!)
Did I mention that I’m a New Yorker? I graduated from Stanford University in beautiful, sunny, palm tree studded Palo Alto, California, but still returned home to the East Coast to take a job in the publicity department of Crown Publishers/Random House Inc. From our Park Avenue office I created tour schedules and itineraries for traveling authors and planned and promoted launch parties with the accompanying press releases. I was living the "Sex & the City" life I thought I wanted, but sitting in a cubicle was suffocating. So I traded in my 9-5 hours to be a server and party-captain at a bustling Italian restaurant near Rockefeller Center and a super popular Midtown Steakhouse. I took what I learned about food and wine pairing, dining etiquette and customer relations, and I became an Event Planner.
As the Director of Events for a trendy Japanese Restaurant with two New York City locations and the Director of Private Dining for a classic TriBeCa Steak and Seafood House, I designed client-specific menus for dinners and cocktail receptions tailored to every taste and budget. I love meeting new people and thrive on the notion of boundless possibilities, which is why I was thrilled to be a part of Pranna's 2008 opening team. My three year journey alongside Payal & Rajiv Sharma included private + corporate events ranging from 10 to 1000+. And a number of celebrity-studded affairs.
In November 2013 I took a bold step: I moved to Chicago. I’ve learned quickly that, just like New York, Chicago is filled with great restaurants, nightclubs, bars/lounges and event spaces. I’m fortunate enough to be able to bounce between JFK and ORD and I keep finding venues with gorgeous wine cellars, vast patios and spectacular rooftops. From Manhattan to Brooklyn to Westchester County — And now, the West Loop to River North to Lincoln Park — I continue to welcome the opportunity of matching clients and venues and vendors together… I am learning my way around Chicago by eating + drinking my way through it.
